Oct. 19, 2022: Fall Semester in Full Swing

Welcome to Peer Teaching & Learning’s first blog post! I am Lacy Gross, Academic Coordinator for three of our eleven campuses, Brattleboro, Randolph, and Springfield.
This has been the first semester in a long time that we have been able to plan in-person and community classes, and we could not be more thrilled. We have many campuses taking advantage of the beautiful weather and the ability to resume classes as they were pre-pandemic. There have been many apple-picking and baking classes, with campus participants donating baked goods to local Meals on Wheels. Others are exploring horse farms, and all campuses are gearing up for the Flutie 5K fundraiser that will take place the week of October 16th.
This will be the second year we are participating. The Flutie Foundation and Peer Teaching & Learning will both benefit from this fundraiser. We have some campuses planning walks/runs, and some participants have decided to get active in other ways by hosting dance parties, kickball games, and more. Participants at PTL Randolph geared up for the 5K by exploring Hubbard Park in Montpelier and climbing to the top of the 54-foot-high stone tower. The foliage views were incredible from the tower, and we could not have asked for more amazing weather for this adventure. This trip was a follow-up to a class taught about the history of the famous John E. Hubbard and his gift of the land to create the park in 1899, which Jonathan of Randolph taught last spring.
